Animals at Suvitta Farms are not an afterthought โ they are essential, irreplaceable participants in the ecosystem. Each species plays a precise ecological role in our closed-loop regenerative system.
In a regenerative food forest, animals are not separate from the farm โ they are the engine. Their waste becomes fertiliser. Their movement aerates and seeds the soil. Their foraging controls pests and undergrowth. At Suvitta Farms, we have designed every animal's habitat and behaviour to serve a specific function in the farm's ecological cycle.
Fertiliser production & A2 dairy
Pest control & manure
Pond management & weed control
Undergrowth management
Pollination & raw honey
Six species, all indigenous or traditional breeds suited to the Deccan climate โ each chosen not just for what they produce, but for what they give back to the land.
In conventional farming, fertility comes from a bag โ synthetic nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, manufactured in factories and shipped to the farm. At Suvitta Farms, fertility is generated on-site, continuously, by our animals. The Gir cow produces dung and urine that we transform into jeevamrit โ a microbially rich liquid fertiliser applied weekly to every part of the farm. Country chickens scratch nitrogen into the soil as they forage. Ducks fertilise the pond water that irrigates the orchard. Goat manure is pelletised and composted into the richest organic amendment we have. Nothing is wasted. Everything cycles.
Daily dung and urine from Gir cows fermented with jaggery, pulses and water into a microbially active liquid fertiliser
Free-range foraging eliminates larvae, beetles, and weed seeds from the soil โ zero pesticide use required
Natural algae and aquatic weed control keeps irrigation water oxygenated and balanced for crop use
Cross-pollination from 8 hive colonies has improved fruit set by an estimated 40% across all orchard trees
Targeted browsing in designated zones eliminates the need for manual or mechanical weed control
All animal feed โ grasses, legumes, fodder trees, cover crops โ is grown on the farm, closing the loop entirely
